(Grand Bazaar Istanbul).
Iç Bedestan is actually a cluster of little antique stores located in the heart of the labyrinthine covered bazaar in Beyazit. Many of the shops here specialise in religious icons which are imported by the truckload from the former Soviet Union. Many also stock cases of ornate silver ornaments, including the ubiquitous evil eye. You can also find a ton of old jewellery and cute Ottoman era fob watches complete with Arabic numerals. When you're shopping, bargaining is the name of the game and the harder you bargain, the more fun you'll have!

Horhor Bit Pazarı (Flea Market)

Страна:
Турция
Город:
Стамбул

The History of Istanbul lies in this bazaar.
Maybe one of the most important places keeping this history alive is Horhor Antiques Ba-zaar. When the antique stores in Kuledibi were destroyed in a fire in 1981, the artisans of this place moved to Horhor Antique Store in Fatih together with artisans from other places. In the eight-floored store, there are over 200 shops and restoration and repairing work-shops. The bazaar, founded as a second hand dealer market, is a bridge on antiques with imported pieces. It is possible to find here British and French furniture as well as articles from the Ottoman era and ones made by Greeks and Armenians. You have the chance to catch every period here.
The antique carved Ottoman door might put you over the checked baggage weight limit, but if you’re an antique fanatic, the Horhor market is a must. It’s a bit of a challenge to find but well worth the effort. There are six floors of small shops where you’ll find statues, lamps, furniture, ceramics and row after row of terra cotta ceramic jugs. While the level of dust may distinguish true antiques from reproductions, be sure to ask. It is a place for mak-ing victorious and interesting finds, but be forewarned, “not everything that seems old is an antique.”

It is very difficult to find this market, but the reward is well worth the effort.

Address:  Kırık Tulumba Sokak 13, Aksaray

Getting There: Take the Tramway to the Aksaray. Exit the station and walk straight, then right on Horhor Caddesi and right on Kırık Tulumba Sokak. The market will be on your right. It’s about a 10-15 minute walk from the tramway and well worth the effort.
