A wonderful Lanternist lamp for use during magic lantern shows, a hinged hood covers the light source and directs it onto the lanternist lecture sheet.
The base of the lamp houses a match safe with striker together with a bell which is used to signal a change of slide...etc. Above these is a kerosene or oil lamp. A brass cover over a red glass peep hole is found at the back, this is similar to the ones seen on magic lanterns. The lamp stands 31 cm or 12 1/4" tall, the base is 9 cm or 3 1/2" square. |
